Welcome Back

a poem by Jan Oskar Hansen

Painted each room of my a house a different colour
And hung a thousand mirrors on walls,
Because I always wanted to live inside
A kaleidoscopic rainbow.
Now that the colours have blanched
I can’t find matching paint.

Painted each room of my house blinding
White and live inside an ice crystal.
That’s much better, the crisp coated said,
Your home looks almost normal,
But get rid of the mirrors,
And welcome back to the land of Us.
