Sleep

a poem by Tony Gill

I will sleep peacefully on the fading hill
My eyes glaze in the snow
And my face bask in the rain
I’ll freeze and I’ll thaw, time is nothing

Someday I’ll leave that hill
To join my peace in a day we will regret
I’ll soak in a time of being
Why can’t a man live his life blind
It would hold most of the pain of reality

The cut of agony, blood spilled on my hill
Where I still lay dormant for man
I’ll cry in my mind for the world today
When I died on my hill, I was set free
