Running From Darkness

a poem by Nav Chandi

Running from darkness;
Towards what he called “the light”.
The road that is less travelled;
yet, it has given him new found sight.

He spoke without uttering words;
He cried without shedding tears;
The world called him brave…
but they couldn’t see his fears.

As far as he could run…
he was still in the same place;
As impatient as he became…
he continued at his own pace.

With a bitter taste, once in his mouth;
With eyes that have seen sin;
He realized that the one he was most angry at…
was the one lying within.

A bright star in the sky;
Guiding this uncertain soul;
Taking a path less travelled…
to reach his ultimate goal.

As the world called him a fool;
His lone voice kept on;
Speaking truth in his own words;
Singing his own song.

Running from darkness;
Towards a light that he has found;
A lone voice trying to be heard;
Yet, it seems that no one hears a sound.

Running from darkness;
Towards a wondrous light;
Sometimes the road that is less travelled…
can be the path that is right.
