Presences

a poem by Manoj Kishore

Dreams mixed with memories
leaves a flickering shadow of doubt
on the heart.

The wan light of dawn
catches hold of a movement
in the vague stillness.

Streets long and narrow
emptying darkness as light descends
sighs mutter.

Across day’s anatomy
windows loosen their latches
motes quiver and flicker.

The golden bug crawls agonizingly slow
across the spine of the day
dazzled shadows flee.

A shadow grows large on the wall and disappears
A trail of brightness
A threshold ablaze.

The vast landscape of light, silence wanders
gazes meet smiling
an empty sky dreaming.
