Pain

a poem by Richard Fernandes

Pain has a face and I’ve seen it
Losing grace and unfathomable embarrassment
A virgin heart cries out in anguish
Don’t hurt me no more…

The shadows of darkness have begun to creep
A mind not hardened by the follies of fools
It feels so sad that the twain should meet
In an area untouched by soft pure hands
No, don’t hurt me no more…

Should I die a heroes death
Do my tears go unnoticed
Does time stand still or runs behind
An untouched innocent mind
Please don’t hurt me no more…
