Goodbye

a poem by Bradley Alcime

After the sun has risen
In the east
When all the shadows are
Right underneath
From where I stand
Several feet above ground
Looking into the horizon
Am taking my final glance
For I will soon leave
I will board the midday
Train, and ride to a place
I’ve never been
Maybe am afraid but I am determined
Cause after the sun has risen
In the east
And the shadows are no
Longer beneath
And I am now gone
Give my regret to my
Sweetheart
For I am sorry I won’t
See the gender of our unborn
