Free from the Shackles of Society

a poem by Sanika Mordekar

Away from the disarray
Lies the ideal society
Where man has assuaged his guilt
And feels worthwhile

Away from the gender violence
Lies the ideal society
Where women ain’t excoriated
And children ain’t vituperated

Away from the cynicism
Lies the ideal society
Where man has credence for optimism
And is a half-hearted realist

Away from the racism
Lies the ideal society
Where one’s complexion is inconsequential
And the soul is at paramountcy

Away from the casteism
Lies the ideal society
Where a man is known for his natural flair
Than any stratum of caste

Away from the narcissism
Lies the ideal society
Where man ain’t vainglorious
And exhibits altruistic tendencies
