Are Poet’s Hands Tied?

a poem by Christuraj Alex

Helen Keller who amidst deafness and blindness,
Had turned poet, writer, and lady of kindness…

Peter Winkler, who, though, arthritis affected,
Wrote and left his soul, never to feel dejected…

Octavia Buttler with her dyslexia,
Authored science fiction as her euphoria…

Christy Brown though suffered from cerebral palsy,
Wrote with his toe many an elegant story…

John Hockenberry suffered paraplegia,
Wrote and won over physical inertia…

Who can forget the author of Paradise Lost?
Who had kept his inner eyes vibrant at all cost…

The universe has men and women so many,
Who has proved that physical ills worth no penny…

It’s not the hand; it’s poet’s heart that volumes write,
Who can bind wings of imaginations at flight?
