Bliss

a poem by Smita Toppo

When the sun has set
in the west
birds have returned to their nest.

As wanderers trudge back to their homes
the moon smiles upon the sea foams
when the earth enters into stillness
sleep gathers into quietness
I offer rest
to all my tangled quest.

When my mind no more roams
and all my fatigue shows
when I seek calmness
I feel an urge of tenderness.

The stir of the day
slowly withers away
I distance from the multitude
myself I seclude
seeking heavenly solitude
peace I want to constitute.

I feel not breathless
no more helpless
For, I feel at this hour
my imaginative power
hear its voice in the distant
one that fills me
with bliss abundant.
