Memories

a poem by Gautam Dhar

Walking alone on a hot summers day
Reminds me of the time we spent in May
Days when the world seemed oh so far
Just like the glare of a blue ol’ star

Oh I wonder where you are
And I wonder what you do
Do you ever stop and think
Of the love that we once knew

Sitting alone on a long summers eve
Watching the tide roll up to my knees
Under the clouds that would never leave
How I long for a bright summer breeze

Looking at the clouds that roll on by
Through the summer winds oh way up high
Just like the love that we once felt
Oh why did she go I just know not why

Whistling with the late night breeze
I can feel the scent of her hair so close
Like a lonely robin on the mountain trees
Her touch so soft like a wild Irish rose

As I hear the passing winds that sing
A tune that haunts my life and soul
Oh I’ll wait right here until you bring
My little heart that you once stole.
