What’s your motive

a poem by Chetan Bhatia

What is your compulsion?
What do you conspire;
I am really not the one, whom you desire,
Nor the one you really admire.

Why you still hanging on to me,
What makes you lie on to my face?
For what you do a hollow praise?
What’s the need for the half-hearted praise?

Rather than playing this act,
Leave me and go away beyond my power;
Then less will be atrocity when more will you be far;
I will remember you like a distant star.

Beyond my logic and imagination,
Your attitude makes me confuse;
Of all the choices, it is I, you choose;
Of all what I am, for me this is news.

But here is a plea from my heart,
If you are saying yes just for my sake;
Just to keep at bay any heartache;
Then don’t break me sleep and let me never be awake.
