Three decades of despair

a poem by Purushothama Rao R

Is three decades
A long gap unbridgeable
In longing life’s space
My dear?

Who ate away all your tender smiles?
Who whisked away the sheen in your eyes?
Who drank all the nectar wetting then on your lips
Where have the softness and sweetness of your tone, gone?
Who left you to this disastrous dry spell?

Is passage of time made this cruel trial?
Or the ups and downs in your life tracks played this havoc?
The flowers who were lowering their heads while in comparative talks
Are boldly raising their shameless heads now
After witnessing you in this wilderness trap

Whom should I complain?
Who should be made responsible for this utter dismay?
Is our ship wrecked and forlorn
Yester three decades’ love story to be punished My Dear?
