Once I lived in a state of grace,
the innocence of unselfish love
then along came demands
jealousy and purity was soiled
like a sheet on a whore’s bed.
By the railing of a ship I stood
made my heart hard
and threw love into the night sea.
It drifted to a lonely shore
where a young couple walked.
Into young hearts my purity was placed
and they refuse to give it back,
which they will regret
when finding that they have loved each other
under false pretenses.
