Laughter

a poem by Saima Afreen

A laughter has travelled
Atop the hills,
Above rivers,
Amid grassy lawns,
But it has lost its way
And perhaps its identity
Have you seen it?
It travelled from river to river just to greet you…
Is it somewhere lying
Between pages of your favourite book?
Amid the falling leaves of your path?
Among countless stars of your night sky?
In shades of pink dusk?
In the song of winter breeze that touches your face?
Or
Is it hidden somewhere
In frozen dew of moments?
Amid soft words that have disappeared?
In layers of dry chapped lips?
Or is it gone
With the whiff of your perfume?
With seasons changing in your land?
Inside crevices of broken bonds?
