Bizarre Love

a poem by Sudarshan Madhav Karhale

A faint voice and an innocent face,
a smile that is priceless,
is what I want in my life-
to take care of me always.

A pair of spectacles
as delicate as her,
cover two small eyes,
which shall never shed a tear.

A sleepy head
blessed with talent and beauty;
my timid heart says-
‘Aren’t you such a cutie?’

Yet I fear,
who is so dear,
may be taken away
by the dark shadows.
All I wish for you is-
‘Be playful and cheerful as ever,
as a colorful butterfly wandering in the meadows.’
