A Sonnet to my love!

a poem by Purushothama Rao R

When I evinced interest in adorning you with an ornamental ware
Like a precious diamond studded gold ring
You said even if it is Kohinoor I don’t care
“I am contended with the jasmine wreath you daily bring”

When I offered to present you
With rose petal shaped necklace
You saw to it that my proposal did not at all push through
“I am very much in delight with your warming embrace”

When I am inclined to attire you
In gold laced ‘Kanjivaram’ silk saree
You never felt happy through this inspiring wear too
“I am joyous with cotton in nights and a shower of your kissing spree”

When I desired to crown you with a poem on our life and love afresh
“I accept my dear! My darling! My heart throb!” you smiled saying all in a flash
