Me

a poem by Mahendra

Amidst the interactions
or intellectual discussions
at home or in office
meetings or seminars
I realise that I am
what I ought to be.
And the blueprint
of a bright career
just dance before my eyes.

But some questions like
Who am I?
Where do I belong to?
just let me be
a feather in the wind.
Aimless, weightless
just moving with the flow
to get lost
like rivers in a sea.

My parents are proud
for all our relatives
are well settled
in Pune, Delhi or United States.
We meet, rarely
during marriages or engagements
and then, I fail to understand
who is what for me
to be alone, or lost
amidst our near and dear ones.
