What is Life

a poem by Nidhi Batra

Life,
What is life?
No, it is not like a loving wife,
Neither does it hate like a knife,
No, it depends only on your eye on life.

Take life easy,
Make sure you aren’t lazy,
For life is a dream,
And if you don’t focus then,
You may end up being a cream.

Life is like a mirror too,
Which is worthless without light.
If you try to shoo and you boo,
Then I say you should not do,
As life will do you some coup,
Or curse you so that you say only moo!
If not this,
Someone will at you, foo,
Then like a paper ship,
Will you go and forever dip,
In the world of why, what and who!

But wherever you go,
You shall find life,
And you must bow,
To admire the power of God,
As only by His will,
Do we find life in places so odd,
It might be as an ant on your bill,
On everest, in desert or in mill.

Be merry,
Think yours only is your life,
And there you are,
Life offers you some berry,
But you mustn’t put yourself behind bars,
If one berry makes you jump from a ferry.

But in life, I wish,
To sit on a cloud,
And I want to talk to the world, down in a really voice aloud,
I don’t want you to see me,
I don’t want you to think I am God, the greatest He,
I just want to flee,
From this world and be free.

I just want to fly,
On top of this broken world, Oh! So high
I want to be there for a while,
And see what others can’t see,
Then I want to come back,
Feeling alone like a pure soul,
And then feel what others lack,
Making others feel that they are full of mole.

This alone in my life isn’t my wish,
I want to swim in the air like a fish,
But the easiest way to this,
Is to close my eyes and imagine.

And so, life is WHAT YOU imagine.
