The Nation’s Wound

a poem by Tony Gill

Knife of anger, stab the nations
In the arms of time, we rot forever
And the clocks tick away the axis
Of the world that used to love me

The courts of hell called me, keep my lord
The masses fled, for the sun burnt out
And the heavens opened and fell
The hate still stained my eyes, will I see

The demons of old walked my path
And dealt my flesh for themselves
But I caught your hand, and you dragged me away
So now the gates that fell have rose the nations
And the hearts of damnation burn for glory
