You Were There

a poem by Shell Bell

You were my friend,
When I needed you the most.
You held my hand,
And lifted me up when I fell.
You made me feel good,
And made the best out of the worst.
You shed your tears and laughter.
You made them contagious
I feel the light you give off to everyone.
You never let it burn out,
It may get dim,
But it always comes back and burns bright.
You have showed me how to never let
Anyone bring me down.
You stab me in the front
Instead of the back.
A true friend you are,
And a true friend you have.
Forever.
