Friendships

a poem by Sathya N K

Friendships,
What makes it click with one and not with other?
It’s just a comfortable feeling in his/her presence ever.
Filled with kindness, fondness, warmth and cordiality,
Nothing more to demand than pleasant company in entirety.

Friendships,
At school comes naturally in a effortless way,
We move in pack eat, study, gossip, gift, treat and make hay.
More of fun crammed with laughter and glee
And that’s how friendships are ought to be!

Friendships,
Become utterly varied as we grow
a lot of people we come across, although.
Particularly to state in the place of work
Not many friendships are usually firm struck.

Friendships,
At workplace doesn’t come with life long guarantee
Change in circumstance and power disparity
Propels friendships greener pastures go dry
Leaving many nothing but with a deep sigh.

Friendships,
Which endure abrupt loss has no real reason
No quarrel, no disagreement, or no real treason
No underlying un-happiness, no animosity or hurt
The plug was just pulled and that’s it.

Friendships,
Sometimes die, simply because they have run their course
At first few days, then months and later years of course.
Within oneself a strange feeling does arise
But just to realise it’s too late to resuscitate the friendly ties.

Friendships,
Which are built out of years of know how
Through exchange of mails, calls, sacrifice and love
Now the same person is too busy for you
And you don’t want to risk the rejection by the same one once you knew.

Friendships,
Which had wane away can still stay alive,
All it needs is a endeavour to say a warm ‘hi’
Or pick up the phone to talk to him/her and give a try
But not many attempt this, I wonder why?

Friendships,
Yet emits, un-tainted wishes from the heart
nothing but best for his friend though apart.
yearn for his happiness prosperity and peace
always glad to hear of his well being where ever she/he is!
