One Summer Evening

a poem by Sundri

One summer evening as I sat contemplating
Our love through all those years
Of warm feelings locked within my heart
Cherishing the bonds and the vows
We made to each other
My happiness enslaved
To your whims and swings of moods
As I hung on to the tender nothings
That you whispered in my ears
I heard the sound of my soul snap
For I could no longer bear
Your silences and wait for eternity
For a word from you!
Realising in that moment of awakening
The sad and bitter truth, that with you
“Out of sight, out of mind “
Was so very often the rule,
Than an exception!
