In the absence of the beloved…

a poem by Atanu Dasgupta

A year has passed by since we met,
I’m left with sweet memories and reflections,
You are the fragrance in my life,
But the moon is clouded today.

Can hear storm from the distant shore,
We are united as one in eternal peace,
Dreamt of you last night, you were like a flower, my queen,
A week has passed in anticipation waiting for greener pastures.

Cloudy nights and storms scare me today,
Wish you were here to pacify my soul,
Thoughts scatter briskly in twilight and dawn,
Your love has strengthened my soul.

Allowed me to take up challenge which I forbid
I’m weak and tired, like a bird in a trap,
You are my mistress, to open the door to freedom,
My life revolves around you, I’m waiting for sunrise.
