Courage

a poem by Mabel Annie Chacko

Life is made up of smiles and tears,
Joys and sorrows mixed with fears,
And though to us it seems one-sided,
Troubles are well divided.

Through God’s wise and loving purpose,
Clearly now you may not see,
Still believe, with faith unshaken,
All shall work for good to thee.

So judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust him for his grace,
Behind a frowning providence,
He hides a smiling face.

Bear the cross with gladness,
God will lift its weight one day,
And with joys of no known measure,
Love and patience will repay.
