Tears, O’ tears

a poem by Uma Parthasarathy

Let
Stinging verse
Pierce the armor
To the soul
But,
Tears O’ tears
Do not unveil thyself.

Let
The traveler
Bid farewell
Yonder
To the graves
But,
Tears O’ tears
Do not unveil thyself.

Let
The war play a dirge
Let, wrath be in surge
But,
Tears O’ tears
Do not unveil thyself.

Let
The rose be in gloom
And
Let the thorns bloom
But,
Tears O’ tears
Do not unveil thyself.

Let
Yore come out of the dim
Let mirth flow to the brim
But,
Tears O’ tears
Do not unveil thyself.

Let
Grayness take a fever
Let sorrow be
Leaden as ever
But,
Tears O’ tears
Do not unveil thyself.

Tears, O’ tears
Your cloak so frail and clear
Yet come not out, for sneer
To christen a ‘Weakling Dear’.
