Orphan

a poem by Jaison PL

A wonder to myself,
I lay in garbage,
crying with all my might,
knowing not my parents,
for no fault of mine!

A moment of giving in,
an abject disgrace to humanity;
an orphan that I’m
knew not why I was born!

Next to me slept,
one new born pup,
suckling hungrily,
immersed in mother’s warmth!

In isolation, aloud I cried,
and there came a childless couple,
adopting the pup,
leaving me in lurch!

In despair, I fell asleep,
being fed by the bitch!
Disturb me not for a while,
for, I have found a new patron!
