Mother

a poem by Zareen Kably

If God on Judgement Day
In His mercy Divine,
Bring all of mankind together
their loved ones to find,
then who would you look for?
To the fool they did ask,
And he replied that in Paradise
it would be a heavy task.
Because Napoleon he must see,
and Charles Dickens too,
Madame Tussaud he could not miss,
To George Washington his respects were due,
Humphrey Bogart he had to hear,
The Roman Empire he had to view,
It all danced before his eyes.
He was drunk with surprise.
And standing nearby his mother shed a tear,
It was him she’d come to see,
And she prayed for him
As she stood so near
That drunk and stupid fool.
