At office with Ramya

a poem by Sujit Salian

I get up in the morning,
even as the alarm clock starts screaming,
I contemplate whether to go to work or not,
Then I suddenly realise, she will be there waiting!

I jump out of bed, get ready quickly,
even I cannot believe my new found vigour,
There’s only one thing on my mind though,
whether today, will I be able to speak to her?

In case you are wondering, who this charming lady is,
the one with whom I long to talk to or phone,
She is Ramya, my sweet little internet chat friend,
She’s the cutest girl I have ever known!

She’s not from my office, not even from my city,
Infact, she is on the other side of the continent!
She is far far away, blissfully unaware that,
For me, surely, she has got to be heaven sent!

She’s the only reason I go to office,
I run to switch on my computer,
make myself a nice hot cup of tea,
log on to the Net and then wait eagerly for her!

Miles away, after college, Ramya is on her way home,
She is dying to log on as well,
I know she is eager to chat with me too,
though this, she will never tell!

As we chat regularly for hours,
little do I realise,
I sometimes forget my lunch and tea breaks,
when I am with her, time really flies!

My boss and colleagues admire my commitment to work,
since I hardly shift from my seat,
why the hell I should, I am busy with my Ramya,
all that I hear around me is my heart beat!

Soon it’s five, office has to close,
We sadly say goodbyes to each other,
I slowly trudge my way back home,
silently longing for the day, when I will actually meet her!
