Adieu

a poem by Vidya Kudva

How far I have come, I don’t know
But from here no further can I go;
I look back and search for you
To utter out my last adieu.

Years have flown away like wind.
But old memories still linger in my mind.
Those golden days, those childish plays,
They were the days we had our ways.

Now, in isolation, as I stand;
I still feel the strength of your hand.
Your friendship I have long cherished.
To be your friend, I have always wished.

Parting was not our choice;
In reunion, we shall rejoice.
Even if you don’t return
For your friendship, my heart shall yearn.
