A dream came true

a poem by Jagganathan V

I let myself on a neat and glossy lawn,
It wouldn’t be much long before it was a dully dawn,
The fragrant fresh air’s buzz competes with a bright bird’s tweet,
Blessed was my tired soul to be introduced to such a treat.

The treat continued, my mind slept on a bundle of flowers,
My ecstatic heart would definitely consider these as golden hours,
The star-studded sky made it a bright night,
And what’s more it added to that graceful and lovely sight.

Everything around encouraged me to a sleep,
But my mind portrays a maiden’s weep,
Tears trickling from her transparent and icy eyes,
Ensured she was to speak a troublesome truth and not lingering lies;

Time took its toll, her silence at last broke,
True love she had had for a stranger, only to be betrayed by that bloke,
She had been like a boat, he had been like the river like a rope,
Though the river always moved away, she had floated with hope.

I cursed her betrayer with words pricky as pins,
She forbids me from talking more with her folded fins,
I hear her singing, wherever he lived let happiness accompany him,
Her bright face suddenly becomes dull and dim.

What could I do for you? I loudly question with her but with sorrow and pain,
She said she needed my soothing words and nothing else to gain,
I ask why do you say your sad story to me my fair lady.
She replied, I was sent to you by the heavenly body.

She said, God had ordered her to be a bright extraordinary flower in my garden,
And that I had to nurture her and be her warden,
Saying this, she took her place amidst the bunch of other beautiful flowers,
I see her again, a miracle really, she shines brighter after, I slept those golden hours.
