a poem by Teesha Guliana

I held my breath,
Closed my eyes,
Let my tears fall,
And float to dive.
I placed my hand,
Over my heart,
I heard it beat,
Only for me.
I heard it bearing fast,
To run away from my fears,
Eating me so that,
I don’t last.
I smiled,
I took a step forward,
And stomped over each fear.
I watched all of my fears,
Flee from being stomped over,
I let my tears fall,
Never to come back again.
I opened my eyes,
And smiled,
At what lay ahead of me.
I freed my hands,
And embraced whatever stood in front of me…
