Diamonds

a poem by Sarita Sharma

What is a diamond
but a piece of stone
proud possession of the rich
envied and adored by the poor
heart shaped worn by Ross in Titanic
gifted by heartless suitor
sinking gracefully in the heart of ocean
like Taj Mahal a show of love and wealth
don’t poor have feeling
if they can’t afford diamond
my beloved needs none of it
her body is a temple
a diamond heart enshrined in it.
