Dying Hope

a poem by Sudarshan Madhav Karhale

My heart keeps sinking
in the sorrow of the past;
my future is unknown,
my present seems to be lost.

The light of hope dims away
every second the time passes by,
leaving behind a trail of darkness;
everything that exists appears to be a lie.

Cheers of happiness
faded away in the distance;
being vulnerable,
raided by fears,
to which I can’t offer any resistance.

I don’t feel safe anymore
among the noisy crowd;
silence is the best choice,
having already made my decision,
I am not proud.

Life finds no meaning,
dreams make no sense;
death keeps closing me,
cold and intense.
