Don’t turn off the lights

a poem by Ananya

Don’t turn off the lights
I want you to see me tonight
The way I am all of me
My wobbly little tummy and my thigh cellulite
If you are gentle with my body-
Maybe I will even let you hurt me a little.

Don’t pull the curtains
Let the sun shine burn on my skin
You will see my eyebrows are bushy, my makeup is undone
My lips are chapped and a little dry
But I will let you pull down my pants, unbutton my see-through shirt,
If you kiss me right.

Lets not hide under your warm brown blanket
Its not fun anymore
Because I want you to see my pimples and pores
And the freckles on my nose
My body in its whole, raw, form with all its majestic flaws
And if you still call me beautiful,

May be I will even let you slip your hand under my skin and touch my soul.
