God and Me

a poem by Moumita Das

In the scorching heat of a June afternoon, I stepped into a strange land,
Where there was no water neither any sand,
Ahead I proceeded in my way looking for a shelter I could lay,
I could not see any signal of service I felt I have been led into a world of precipice,
How justified were my feelings I did not know as I had my feeble father who could not bend low,
I was in a torment and then I found a person who was like an angel to me for the moment,
He helped me deciphering the solution to all my queries,
He offered a helping hand which turned out to be a wonderland,
I started feeling myself the luckiest being on this earth
As a human feels in a nippy weather on achieving a hearth,
I realised GOD is always there for me who cannot leave me aloof in my hardships,
It was GOD’s will that I encounter a stranger who would be my life organiser,
It was on the footprints of god that I walked all my way which became a halt of my permanent stay.
