You are you, I am I

a poem by Christuraj Alex

You and I have been friends for long, the world knows
Yet divisions among us are common, as the time goes
You have your wife, I have mine; you have kids, me too
You are you; I am I; let us mind our own business.

You are a builder; I am in field of destruction of weeds
You make buildings and I often find myself in utterly unease
You build or I destroy; you make or I mar; let’s limit ourselves
You are you; I am I; let us mind our own business.

Your boy teases my girl; your hen mates my cock
Your laurel flowers fall into my courtyard, Alas!
You and I make a wall between us; see to it sealed
You are you; I am I; let us mind our own business.
