I want to live

a poem by Swarit Verma

I am a lady on a wrong path
I am not a lady like
I want to live my life the fullest
No bars at all
What the circumstances
Under those bars
I have to compromise
Or run away far
Rather than regretting on my
Death eve
I want to live

I don’t want to become
My own culprit
I don’t want to become
Some person culprit
In his life
My job is my husband
I am its dedicated wife
My work, my children
City to city
Are my in-laws
Far from your decision
Far from your reason
I want to live

My destination, my desires
I am free to fulfill my dreams
I am an alcoholic
A smoker, a gambler
A more
But you the people
From the land of culture can’t see me
From inside
My heart is
Very pure
Pure as a pearl white
I want to live

In the storm of life
I never want to face it at all
A woman form Calcutta
Has to grow
Walking from one alien land
To other
I am free swan
Want to
Fly, fly and fly above
Let me fly?
I want to live
