Cordless Connexion

a poem by Veena Damodar

Tring Tring! Tring Tring!
No time to wait and ponder,
I leave aside everything,
For I know it is my
Weekly connexion.
The cordless connexion!
“Mama, it is me.”
Do I have to be told so?
Who else but you my Molu.
What a delight to hear the melodious childlike voice.
The ring of the telephone is my lifeline!

The accumulated news of friends and relatives!
Enquiries, welfare, well being,
A bit of maternal advice,
A matured girl’s views,.all accepted.
Seconds tick away, the voice now a distant bye,
Love, take care!
It keeps me happy and contented for a week,
Till the next tring tring! Wonders of the invention.
It is indeed a cordless connexion!

The connexion between you and me,
Is a special one.
There is no umbilical chord,
But a cordless connexion,
Evolved by the Almighty!
