Better to leave it empty

a poem by Thiagarajan A

It was all books and papers
During my college
It was Blake’s Tyger and Kathleen Raine
It was C S Lewis and Ezra Pound
Youthful vengeance romantic
Agony sounded good from C M Bowra…
Outsider was simply an insider
And then came the Gita
And the crimes and sins of Mahabharathans
The JK’s and the Zens…
I had the same continuing later
Banking job and clients’ across the desks
Wife and shopping, sex and children,
Salaries and saving…
All were there
For me to get into the continuum
So much so, little did I realize
That I became paper myself
Wondering is there anything to write at all
Better to leave it empty
