Conversation overheard in a green room

a poem by Sivakami Velliangiri

Has an ace up his sleeve
Plays open forum, digs nose,
hits potluck and traps mice.
Has fathered a dozen grandfathers
Among other achievements.
Never been to high school
Why should he when there is paddy
In the foreground, background
underground and above ground?
Has two bad habits, only:
on new moon days rides stallion
like a kid on a sack of grain and
on full moon days makes flute music
at night like a sane poet.
Everybody says he is a genius.
