Valuables

a poem by Sidhant Bansal

We run after money
we run after things
we often make commitments,
against our own liking.
We are so summed up
in what others have bought
that we often forget
what we have got.
People always say
my family and my friends
are valuable to me,
but what I value most
is my self-identity.
I am who I am
I am what I will be
it makes no difference
no difference at all to me.
The heart is the one
which has to shine
and make everyone feel,
special and divine.
So, get up and go
and be what you want to be
but remember this thought
never loose your own identity,
because money may come
and money may go
but character is the work
that will always show.
