Parting Friend

a poem by Ravi Shankar K

So many gods, so many creeds,
so many paths that wind and wind,
while the art of being kind and benignity,
is all I need from you.

The way you patronised me,
I never failed to fraternize with you.
It is not better to forget,
but don’t remember the same and regret.

I have the habit of forgetting every face,
but it is exceptional in your case.
Better by far you should forget and smile
than that you should remember and be sad.

Even though you were like a butterfly,
which appears and delights for a moment,
you are engraved in my heart,
which would never depart.

Good night! Parting is just a sweet sorrow,
that I shall say till it becomes tomorrow.
you are far behind the sky,
and I end up saying bye, bye!
