A Request to the Moon

a poem by Rachita Nemani

Oh Moon! Oh glorious Moon!
Why do you taunt me so?
How is it that you’re full and complete?
When I’m all broken and low?

Oh Moon! Oh glorious Moon!
Why is my life so changed?
All my love seems to be lost
All my relationships deranged.

Oh Moon! Oh glorious Moon!
Why am I, the way I am?
Why do the positive seem negative to me?
And why am I not the way I am not?

Oh Moon! Oh glorious Moon!
You light up the sky with your glow.
Is it possible for me to be like you?
And not all broken and low?

So Moon! My glorious Moon!
Please don’t taunt me so
For I wish to be full and complete.
Even when I am broken and low.
