Response of your Love

a poem by Premchand Gandhi

Where and how could I have your love
which you are spreading for me like a wealth

What will I do of your gifts
how should I respond to it

Just seeing you, my eyes shine
with the light of love
which I have seen in my mother’s eyes only

In the world of falsehood
your pure love
like a blooming flower in the desert

I get tired
of handling your lovely gifts
the whole days of my life

I don’t know how should I reply
you don’t know how vicious I may be

You daily pray to your God
just pray to teach me
to love like you
so that I could respond a little to your love
