The Rain

a poem by Prabindh

Silence in the air and you know
The drumbeats are not far
Raise the blinds and peer through
Till the march begins from afar.

Going back in time when
There is emptiness in the world
Darkness everywhere like an eternal night
And then the sun is born as foretold
Along with the moon and the star-fold
Lighting up the sky, moving in the heavens
Spreading the message of joy
Until one day, when a cry pierces the heavens
The moon and the stars wake up
To join the sun and find the cause
It comes from the high skies
And a cloud comes into view
Can’t carry this any longer it says weeping
For it is burdened with water for keeping
The sun is so angry, it blackens his face
Darkness falls and thunder rumbles in pace
As he pierces the cloud with his rays
Till it is relieved of its drudgery
And, rain falls.

Silence in the air and you know
The drumbeats are not far
Raise the blinds and peer through
Till the march begins from afar.
