Kashmir

a poem by Parupalli Mythili

It was once a paradise
All covered with ice
Where the sun rise
Captured everyone’s eyes
Where the Kashmir spice
Spread its aroma across the skies
Where the blushing lotus lie
Silently beneath the blue sky
But with a sigh I have to say
Today the sky has blackened
The petals and leaves have darkened
The people are saddened
For the extremists and spies
Have infiltrated the tranquil skies
What a price to be paid
By this land of unthinkable beauty
All in the name of political governance and duty.
