Soul Imprisoned

a poem by Nazim Baig

Beauty of dear dreams
Your unreachable graces
an ageless beauty
Rises before naked sun
Shimmering an ancient image
That cooper tone queen
Splendor of her eyes
soothe thirsty desires
passing wind whirl
through untamed curls
Warmth of her touch
Runs through my soul

Now Hours of intimacy
Troubles my imagination
Withered my existence
Journey was long
You many miles away
Yet abode in my heart
What I know now
I didn’t know then
That high and low
Meant not to merge
Side by side banks of river
Close enough still apart
After all these years of separation
Still a Thought of you
Races my heart.
