On Diamonds

a poem by Monika Tandon

This finely chiselled work of art
shines and sparkles in the dark
makes a persons identity mark
like a distant tiny star in sky
this jewel brings a sparkle to the eye
to the bold, outgoing and even the shy
as if endowed with a life of its own
this delicate shining stone
wholesome and complete even when alone
many a times spouses anger cure
makes the wearer want more and more
oh! diamonds you are perfect and pure
a wonderful gift from the heart
this finely chiselled work of art.
