One for Me!

a poem by Aratrika Sarkar

I swam across the grey sea of loneliness,
The grey drops slowly choking me to death.
I almost saw my lonely ashes, still warm.
But, then God held my cold hands.

I opened my forlorn eyes,
And, met the gift ‘you’, God left for me.
‘You’ sparkled a warmth, and in the horde of billions, ‘you’ eyed only me.

My happiness reached God and thanked it (him/her) trillions,
For now, I had the strength to make everything possible.
My dreams painted shades of togetherness in various colours,
With a gradually disappearing grey canvas.
