A Newspaper

a poem by Jan Oskar Hansen

‘He scored with me eight times’
the semi nude girl on the front page
of a best selling newspaper twitters.
More revelation on page 5 and 6,
the paper shrieks;
shamelessly we look and read this ignoble crap.
On page eight a little notice about
hordes of starving children in Afghanistan,
put in as an after thought.
The hungry will never make it to the front page
unless they can sing, dance and strum a guitar.
That is reserved for serious news and juicy revelation.
But don’t blame the paper it only prints what we like to read.
